Disasters can strike quickly and without any warning.
They can be frightening, especially for people with disabilities
and seniors. The following emergency preparedness guideline
will provide you with some useful tips and information to
help you prepare yourself in an emergency. In the event of
an emergency:
STEP 1: STAY TUNED
Listen
to the TV and radio for the latest information. If you are
not able to do this, have a friend or neighbor relay the
information to you.
STEP 2: DEVELOP A PERSONAL EMERGENCY PLAN
Consider developing a disaster plan with your household
members or neighbors that outline what to do, how to find
each other, and how to communicate in an emergency. Identify
two places to meet: a place outside your home and another
place outside your neighborhood (library, school, place of
worship). Practice your plan with all household members.
